Dr. Ashley Aanonsen

Dr. Ashley Aanonsen has been a practicing veterinarian on Staten Island for the past six years, becoming a part of Bay Street Animal Hospital's team in 2020. Dr. Aanonsen has been referred to as an asset to the veterinary community as she is truly known to be an advocate for the animals that cross her path. "Dr. A," takes on wellness exams through challenging medical cases for many clients and rescue-owned pets, giving it one hundred percent every time. Her inspiration to provide the most compassionate and beneficial veterinary care is due to her late Labrador Maxwell Smart. She treats every animal as if it were her own, and that is her notable defining quality as a doctor. Dr. Aanonsen completed her undergraduate degree, earning a B.S. in Biology at Wagner College. She then obtained her Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in the West Indies, completing her final rotating semester at the University of Wisconsin Veterinary School from April 2018 to March 2019.

Robert Campanella was born and raised in Staten Island where he attended and graduated from both St. Joseph by the Sea High School and St. John's University, all while learning the family business. Now serving as the Vice President of Campa Construction Corp., he continues to be instrumental in overseeing and contributing to numerous influential projects across Staten Island, having completed projects for On Your Mark, SIEDC, Max Binni, and many more Staten Island based organizations. His leadership and expertise in construction/development on Staten Island continue to transform the local landscape of the borough in hopes of leaving a lasting impact on the community and its growth.

Timothy Castanza is the Founder and Executive Director of Bridge Prep Charter School, New York’s first public school designed to meet the needs of students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. Since opening in 2019, Timothy has guided Bridge Prep’s establishment as a model for how schools can serve neurodiverse students through a commitment to the Science of reading, innovative professional learning, and effective partnerships with community organizations. Bridge Prep’s work in transforming some of our borough’s most at-risk young people into its future leaders is noteworthy and is reflected by the organization's continued growth and demand for expansion. Beginning in July, Timothy will lead Bridge Prep into the next chapter of its growth and development as the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer. A respected voice in the field of literacy education, he is also a recipient of the prestigious Cahn Fellowship for Distinguished School Leaders and was named an Exceptional New Yorker by New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.

Joseph Cuozzo is the Vice President of Information Technology at Richmond University Medical Center (RUMC), where he oversees the technological infrastructure across RUMC, Richmond Health Network, and Staten Island Mental Health (SIMH). His comprehensive oversight includes IT, Switchboard, Biomedicine, AV, and Telecommunications. In his current role, Joseph is driving significant advancements in strategic technology planning, team leadership and development, cybersecurity and cybersecurity compliance, and performance monitoring and analysis. His efforts are focused on ensuring RUMC remains at the forefront of healthcare technology. A Staten Island native, Joseph joined RUMC in 2016, demonstrating consistent growth and leadership through roles as Systems Analyst, Applications Manager, Associate Director, Director, and Assistant Vice President of IT. Joseph holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from CUNY-College of Staten Island and an MBA with a concentration in Technology Management from Walden University.

Nadia Fabozzi graduated from Wells College with a BA in Psychology & Anthropology and a minor in Communication Studies. She worked in Human Resources upon graduation, and following the COVID-19 pandemic, she transitioned to a role at On Your Mark (OYM) in 2022. After two years, Nadia was promoted to Director of Development in 2024. She has successfully collaborated with leadership teams, boards, donors, and elected officials to secure millions in grants, discretionary funding, and sponsorships. In addition to her role at OYM, Nadia serves as a council member of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals Group and is a newly active member of the Silver Lake Kiwanis Club. She is a dedicated professional with a strong commitment to her family, friends, and community. Nadia frequently volunteers with local nonprofits that serve veterans or individuals with disabilities, such as The Integrated Athletic Initiative, Honor Flight, and Songbird Foundation.

Salvatore Fontana

Salvatore Fontana is a native Staten Islander, graduate of Monsignor Farrell High School, and earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the College of Staten Island. He has climbed the corporate ladder at the Stop & Stor corporate office, holding various positions during his tenure to his current role as Assistant Director of Administration. He is an excellent mentor, team leader and never hesitates to roll up his sleeves and pitch in when the need arises. Sal understands business operations and collaborates on a wide variety of decision making daily. He never hesitates to help staff with requests or concerns. Although his role at Stop & Stor demands his time and energy, Sal still finds time to help others. He is a volunteer with Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue where he helps animals in need find homes. Sal is also a member of the Italian Club of Staten Island, where he enjoys delivering bags of food items to those in need around the holiday season. Every year, you can also find Sal assisting with preparations, walking, and supporting Team Stop & Stor at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk of Staten Island.

José Ramírez-Garofalo is an Ecologist and serves as the Director of Science and Research Development for the Freshkills Park Alliance and the President of the conservation organization Protectors of Pine Oak Woods Inc. His work focuses on documenting changes in the environment on Staten Island and throughout New York City, as well as understanding the complex dynamics of the human and natural system worldwide. Working with stakeholders from federal agencies to local non-profits, he uses cutting-edge methods to help inform policy makers on environmental challenges. He has led critical studies on the return of grassland birds, the tracking of migratory species, and the monitoring of fish and bat populations within Freshkills Park. José’s work is not just about science—it has real economic impact, as his studies support policy decisions that balance conservation with sustainable development, ensuring Freshkills Park continues to be a model for urban ecological renewal.

Kyle Gialombardo

Kyle Gialombardo has been working with the Eden II Programs since April 2015, marking a decade-long career in the field. Throughout his time there, he has gained extensive knowledge about the world of autism. He started as a Direct Support Professional and has advanced to his current role as Operations Coordinator. His work with this specific population has been fulfilling, and despite the challenges faced on some days, the positive outcomes motivate him to continue his support. His efforts have provided individuals with vital access to resources and opportunities that promote independence, social engagement, and personal growth. Through these initiatives, Kyle has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of individuals with autism while fostering a more inclusive community on Staten Island.

Lauren Giordanella has worked for Educational Data Systems, Inc. (EDSI) since 2011, supporting Workforce and Small Business programs through the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS). She began her career as a Career Advisor/Recruiter at the Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center, assisting jobseekers with employment placement. In 2016, she transitioned to the NYC Business Solutions Center as a Finance Account Manager and has served as Director since 2018. A dedicated advocate for Staten Island’s small businesses, Lauren is passionate about empowering entrepreneurs and strengthening community partnerships. She has provided one-on-one guidance to more than 400 entrepreneurs. She also specializes in capital access, having facilitated over $7.5 million in lending for more than 160 Staten Island small business owners, and assists businesses in obtaining Minority and/or Women-Owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) certification.

Colleen Grace is a Senior Director of Events at the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Colleen joined Tunnel to Towers in 2012 after reading a news article about an injured service member for whom the Foundation was building a smart home. Colleen was inspired by the work to help injured service members as well as the mission to never forget September 11, 2001. In the 13 years with Tunnel to Towers, Colleen's responsibilities have grown. Colleen helps to plan the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in New York City, 5Ks, tower climbs across the country, and galas. She is also the lead for signature golf classic events, including the Foundation's Celebrity Golf Series. Working at Tunnel to Towers is a calling for Colleen, inspired by the patriotic values instilled in her by her father growing up. Through the Foundation's various events, Colleen is proud to help raise funds for Tunnel to Towers' various programs that support our nation's heroes and their families.

Anthony Lanza is a fifth-generation funeral director who graduated from Monsignor Farrell High School in 2018. He earned his bachelor's degree in business and technology, with a minor in economics, from Stevens Institute of Technology in 2022. Additionally, he is a graduate of the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service. Serving his Staten Island community 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Anthony is known for his kindness, warmth, and compassion. He is dedicated to helping the bereaved, many of whom have faced unimaginable tragedies. Anthony views his role at Colonial Funeral Home as a sacred calling rather than a job. He gives back by coaching wrestling at Monsignor Farrell High School and volunteering with the GRACE Foundation of New York. Anthony was also honored as NY1’s New Yorker of the Week.

Julia Lepore, a 22-year-old St. John’s University alum, joined Tekie Geek full-time in September 2024 after interning as a Marketing Assistant since June 2023. After graduating, she was promoted to Marketing Coordinator, where she brings creativity and fresh ideas to the team. With a passion for graphic design and branding, Julia excels at crafting campaigns, coordinating events, and driving dynamic marketing strategies that enhance Tekie Geek’s presence. Julia’s dedication goes beyond marketing—she’s always the first to volunteer when help is needed, especially for Tekie Geek’s non-profit clients like The GRACE Foundation of New York. She takes great pride in her work, consistently going above and beyond to ensure every project is a success. A natural leader, Julia served on the executive board of her sorority, where she developed a love for community service and teamwork—values she continues to bring to Tekie Geek every day.

Vanesa Limani is a dedicated public servant committed to advocating for the Staten Island community. She previously served as Staten Island Director for NYS Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton and as Director of Constituent Services for former Assemblyman Michael Cusick, ensuring that elected officials can effectively reach all the people they serve. Vanesa's next role will take place at the NYC Mayor's Office, where she will serve as Staten Island Borough Director and continue to address local challenges, strengthen community partnerships, and ensure the borough’s needs are a priority in city government. Her passion for Staten Island drives her to work tirelessly to improve our beloved borough and create lasting positive change.

Daniel Messina is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Aggressive Energy, a leading full-service energy company. With a commitment to efficiency and sustainability in his community, Dan has played a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth and success. Sherry Morcos is a highly accomplished leader with a wealth of experience in both the telecommunications and nonprofit sectors. With a strong background in customer service, VoIP, sales, and team development, she consistently demonstrates exceptional leadership and strategic vision. Sherry’s career is a reflection of her unwavering commitment to excellence. She began her professional path at Time Warner Cable, rapidly advancing from Senior Sales Support Representative to managing a team of over 100 staff members. In 2021, Sherry transitioned to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, where her dedication earned her promotions from Associate Director to Vice President of Donor Services, CRM, and Retention. Through strategic partnerships with vendors, Sherry improved operational efficiency and grew the donor services team from 10 to 50 employees, while also establishing a strong leadership team. She further contributed by launching departments focused on data integrity and donor retention, significantly enhancing the organization’s efforts to support veterans and those in need. Her leadership continues to have a profound, positive impact.

Melissa Panzo serves as the Associate Executive Director of Hospital Operations at Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH). Having progressed from Registered Nurse to her current leadership role, she leverages her extensive experience to drive improvements across diverse departments, including Graduate Medical Education, Clinical Research, Facilities Services, Emergency Management, and the Department of Medicine. Melissa is committed to fostering a strong academic environment, recognizing its essential role in advancing healthcare. She leads SIUH's Environmental Sustainability Committee highlighting her dedication to sustainability.

Nisha Tumber, LMSW, is the Director of Outreach and Engagement at Person Centered Care Services (PCCS). With a Master’s in Social Work specializing in disability studies, she is dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She leads strategic outreach efforts, develops professional development trainings, and organizes statewide roundtables to advance disability rights, justice, and equity. Nisha is passionate about challenging societal perceptions of “normalcy” and redefining inclusion. She is committed to shifting conversations from passive acceptance to active change, encouraging deeper engagement with the complexities of disability justice. Through collaboration, advocacy, and education, she strives to build awareness, improve access to resources, and drive policy change that creates a more equitable future for all.

Alexandria Vale, AVP, Loan Officer of Empire State Bank, has strong ties to the Staten Island community. After a few years working in the medical field, she transitioned into another passion of hers where she could help people with their real estate needs. Her background in Nursing provided Alexandria with a unique approach as she provides hands-on support and takes the time to walk clients through every step of the mortgage process, so they are informed and educated about their options. Alexandria serves as the Secretary of the South Shore Rotary Club, is an Affiliate member of Monmouth Ocean Regional Realtors, and holds positions with various organizations, including the Have a Heart Foundation and SIBOR’s Professional Development Committee. After being diagnosed with a rare disease, Alexandria decided to support others with this rare disease worldwide and become a Support Group Leader with the Mast Cell Disease Society. She has participated in many community projects to help children, seniors, and veterans over the years.

Erica Weile has been a part of the JCC of Staten Island community for as long as she can remember. From spending summers as a camper starting at five years old in 2001, to becoming a counselor and participating in community service events for many years, the JCC has always felt like home. Now, as the Director of Accounting, she brings the same dedication and passion to her work, having been a part of the accounting department since 2019. She oversees day to day financial operations and manages several community grants that help serve all aspects of the community, some including grants for health care navigation to the underprivileged community, as well as early childhood and special needs programming. A proud graduate of Pace University, Erica earned a bachelor’s degree in Public Accounting and a master’s degree in Financial Management.

Melissa West, Director & Senior Curator, Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art at Snug Harbor, is a leading force behind the compelling vision for the arts at Snug Harbor. In this senior role, West oversees exhibitions, performances, artist residencies, public art, and related programs across the historic 83-acre campus. Since 2017, she has provided financial support, resources, and opportunities to hundreds of artists, cultural organizations, and community partners. A lifelong Staten Islander, West has increased access to the arts for thousands of New Yorkers, creating innovative ways for audiences to engage through in-person and digital experiences. Melissa holds an MA in Performance Studies from New York University and a BA in Dance from Hunter College.
